However, the student interest and motivation on particular courses depends on some factors such as mastery of content (Bergin, 1999). Therefore, a majority of college students concentrate on the programs which are related to their prospective careers. For instance, the Social Studies program is most familiar with the learners of humanities department, whereas the technical programs attract IT and computer engineering students just to mention a few. Despite course specialization, it is necessary to acquire other universal programs in the college curriculum. These additional studies improve the students' understanding and proper comprehension of their future specialty (Ames, 1992).According to Pintrich et al. (1993), the student interest in a particular course depends on the teaching methods used by the instru ctors to present the course content to the learners. There are different teaching procedures which are put in place during the learning process to help the students to master the content and they include cognitive, behaviorist, or constructivist learning approaches. Among the three learning models, the last approach has been found to be the most successful. The behaviorist method is effective because through this process educators apply different visual and descriptive materials to enhance mastery of content to the learners apart from making the learning program interesting.Bergin (1999) suggests that the recognition of college programs depends on its demand in the market. Students prefer the most needed courses such as medicine that will financially benefit them in their career future. Such learning programs are more prevalent as compared to others due to the realistic concerns.
